Wolves of the Sea

Postby DARKspawn on Sun Aug 24, 2008 12:37 am

This year, Eurovision in Belgrade provided us with a little pirate themed inspiration, courtesy of the Latvian musical "project," Pirates of the Sea. According to Wikipedia "It was very popular with the audience in the UK, receiving 10 points from them and with the Irish audience from whom they received 12 points. Eventually the song became 12th of 25th in the final." In short, it's hillariously bad - sorry Latvia

Why am I posting this? Well ever since I heard the blasted song it's been stuck in my head! The only thing I remember from this year's Eurovision is this song, it's broadsided all memory of the opposition & sunk them to the bottom of the deep blue.

So with a Hi Hi Ho (the reason for which will become apparent to you shortly), let me share this burden with you all through the miracle of YouTube...

For those of you who like to sing along here are the lyrics

With a hi hi ho and a hi hi hey
We're hoisting the flag to be free
We will steal the show, Jolly Rogers go
We are wolves of the sea

Don't try to run, it's all set and done
There's a treasure in sight
We are robbing you blind
I hope you don't mind
We are taking it all tonight

Just walk away, we will conquer it all
Pirates will stand and the loser will fall

With a hi hi ho and a hi hi hey
We're bound to be close to the sea
Our captain will stand on the bridge and sing:
Pirates are all we can be

With a hi hi ho and a hi hi hey
We're hoisting the flag to be free
We will steal the show, Jolly Rogers go
We are wolves of the sea

Down to the core, we're coming for more
With a sword close at hand
We are scary and bold, a chest full of gold
We get sealegs when sighting land

The hook of our captain is looking at you
There's no Peter Pan, so what can you do?

With a hi hi ho and a hi hi hey
We're bound to be close to the sea
Our captain will stand on the bridge and sing:
Pirates are all we can be

With a hi hi ho and a hi hi hey
We're hoisting the flag to be free
We will steal the show, Jolly Rogers go
We are wolves of the sea

If you cry out to storm
We pirates will stand tall
A skull and crossbone flag is closing in
To see you fall

(Hum, hi ho, hi hum, hi hey)
(Hum, hi ho, hi hey)
(Hum, hi ho, hi hum, hi hey)

With a hi hi ho and a hi hi hey
We're hoisting the flag to be free
We will steal the show, Jolly Rogers go
We are wolves of the sea

With a hi hi ho and a hi hi hey
We're bound to be close to the sea
Our captain will stand on the bridge and sing:
Pirates are all we can be

With a hi hi ho and a hi hi hey
We're hoisting the flag to be free
We will steal the show, Jolly Rogers go
We are wolves of the sea
We are wolves of the sea

Well Hi Hi Ho indeed! That was certainly... that is to say, I really... it would be...

Blast it all, that's going to be stuck in my head for ages. I'm going to find myself walking (the plank?) down the street humming that. I don't even like dance music. :?

Oh my. Thanks, Aaron. That stupid "Hi Hi Ho" is stuck in my head now. If I can't get it out soon, I may have to stick my head in cannon....

hihiho, hihihey, hihiho, hihihey....

Josh

PS. Something evil compelled me to watch it again. My head hurts. I think I would have preferred it if you hadn't posted the lyrics. The mystery would have been better...

Well blow me down! Being the proud father of a three and a half year old I am actually familiar with this song & Lazy Town in general. Consider the debt paid in full, Yoda!
