Rules and Information
The contest will begin on Thursday, March 1st, 2012, and will end promptly on Monday, April 30th, 2012, at 11:59 pm Eastern Standard Time.
All entries need to be online and viewable when the contest deadline ends.
Entries posted online before March 1st, including images of works-in-progress (WIPs), will be disqualified.
This contest is open to all registered members of ForbiddenCove.com. Please see our Terms of Service for more information about becoming a member.
LEGO Certified Professionals, Set Designers and Model Builders for The LEGO Group and LEGOLAND© parks, and former Forbidden Cove administrators are ineligible.
Each contest entry must also be accompanied by an announcement post of said entry in our Pirate MOCs forum in order to be eligible. One entry per post, or you will be disqualified.
You may submit up to 2 entries into each category.
Please see the Categories and Prizes page for specific size restrictions in certain categories.
Each submission is limited to five photographs, each no larger than 900 x 1200 pixels in either orientation.
You may edit your images digitally, but only to clean up the images for presentation.
We will not accept digital entries, nor the use of any clone parts.
Custom sails and string may be used for ships, but any other custom parts may only be used in the Custom Minifig category.
Images will not be hosted by ForbiddenCove.com. We suggest using an image hosting website such as
Flickr (anyone get get a free Flickr page).
You must have a set or folder for your separate images with ONLY the five images visible; no thumbnails or other files or photos therein.
You may use Brickshelf, but be aware of website issues that may occur there. Choose wisely, as judging will not be delayed due to other website
Submissions for the Jolly Roger Contest are to have been built solely for the purpose of entry into this contest.
No works in progress (WIPís) should be posted online, or in our forums, prior to being submitted as an entry.
No work shown prior to March 1st, 2012, is eligible for this contest.
In addition, MOCs that were previously built may not be modified and entered.
Please go to the "Submit an Entry" page to enter your creations for this contest.
Enter your name and email, the name of your creation, the category you are submitting to, a link to the image folder,
a thumbnail link (if you have one), and a brief description.
By submitting your entry you give ForbiddenCove.com the unrestricted rights to publish your entry online.
The evaluation committee will be made up of the administrators of ForbiddenCove.com.
Therefore, they are not eligible to enter this contest.
Submissions will be evaluated based on Creativity, Playability, and Details.
The administrator grades for each submission will be averaged for the creations final score.
The highest score in each category will win that categories prize.
Each participant can only win a maximum of one prize (except for the Master Builder, who will win the prize for the category and the Master Builder prize).
If he/she wins multiple categories, one category prize will have to be forfeited.
This prize will go to the second place in the forfeited category.
Shipping and Legal Requirements:
ForbiddenCove.com will pay for shipping prizes to the winners in the United States.
If the winner lives outside of the USA, they will pay the difference between actual
shipping cost (including any tariffs, VAT, etc.) and the cost to ship the prize within the USA.
We reserve the right to modify the rules and prizes of this contest at any time.
By participating in this contest, entrants agree to be bound by the official rules and decisions of the judges.
By acceptance of prize, winners consent to the use of their name/likeness/entry materials in any manner by
ForbiddenCove for advertising/trade without further compensation unless prohibited by law.
By accepting any prize, winners agree to hold ForbiddenCove, the LEGO Group,
and any prize donor harmless against any and all claims, damage,
injury caused or liability related to the administration of this contest,
participation in this promotion, and/or the use or redemption of a prize.
